Iowa State gets the latest grain sensor technology
Students at the New Grain Science Complex get hands-on learning using radar sensors and a web app
Thirty non-contact radar level sensors and BinCloud® software for monitoring grain bin levels will be integrated into the engineering and feed technology complex. BinMaster is donating the equipment to Iowa State, following in the footsteps of other private donors helping to build the $21.2 million facility.
“This equipment lets students learn new ways automation will transform agriculture and our worldwide food supply. Many students who major or minor in feed technology grew up on farms. The equipment we supply shows them they can track grain bin levels without climbing,” said Scott Hudson, executive vice president at BinMaster.
“BinCloud puts grain information on a phone, exactly what students want” continued Hudson. “Keeping students engaged with the latest technology supports Iowa State’s vision of developing a local labor pool for the future.”
BinMaster donated 25 NCR-80 radars, 41 capacitance probes, 17 rotary indicators, and six 3D Level Scanners.
