Bay State Milling Thrives with Variety

Because silos are typically dusty atmospheres, measuring flour and wheat can be tricky. These silos often require sensors that measure levels via radar technology.

BinMaster provides these sensors to agricultural operations worldwide. In this application story, non-contact radar (NCR) sensors were incorporated into the Bay State Milling Company for measuring a variety of high-fiber wheat inventory.

Concrete Colossus and CementView® Software

Sometimes stories illustrate solutions. Using sensors and cloud software called CementView®, a major concrete company reduced material shortages and simplified life for drivers and dispatchers.

Read the story of how a company with ten ready-mix plants automated the monitoring processes of 58 silos containing cement powder, IPF, and fly ash. CementView keeps dispatchers informed. Using a PC, tablet, or phone, dispatchers can monitor inventory for each silo and plant location by stored bulk material. Automatic text and email messages send alerts when it's time to restock.

Oilseed Storage & Production Depends on Exact Measures

Worldwide vegetable oil production includes 25 varieties of vegetable oils, oilseeds, and fats. In fact, according to the International Association of Vegetable Oils, Ukraine and Russia are the top producers of sunflower oil.

Proper storage of beans, seeds, and nuts is important to maximize the quality of finished products. Equilibrium moisture content and relative humidity must be maintained when filling and emptying bins. BinMaster sensors and software provide bulk material measurements to keep adequate inventory in check.

Yo-Yo Grain Inventory Brings Solid ROI

Up and down. Up and down. Measure, measure, measure.

While BinMaster’s SmartBob® sensor provides a sturdy, accurate method of measuring grain in a silo, it’s no replacement for a trusty yo-yo, where a user can perform "walk the dog" or "flying saucer" tricks. However, the SmartBob does resemble an automated yo-yo by dropping a sensor down to the bulk material, then withdrawing back to the spool.

Sturdy’s the word: many of the original SmartBobs have been operating for more than 25 years.

Non-Contact Sensors Swoop Cement Data to You

Cement managers find workplace injuries akin to kryptonite. Like superheroes, they’re ready to rid their world of danger.

These manufacturers know the challenges of bulk materials in the industry, including exposure to harsh ingredients. According to the Centers for Disease Control, if not careful, people can experience health complications including eye, skin, and respiratory disorders. Climbing bins and silos to measure what’s inside just doesn't make sense.

BinMaster non-contact level sensors can help, measuring levels in a silo via 3D Scanners, laser, or radar technologies to ensure accurate monitoring of product levels.

Easily Monitor Tanks, Pressure, Truckloads with BinCloud®

BinCloud® takes level measurements in bins, tanks, or silos, and organizes data in one simple software. It does away with climbing vessels, manual measurements, and spreadsheets. Instead, get one login to view current levels, place orders, and generate reports.

BinCloud isn’t limited to liquids and tanks. With the right sensors, BinCloud can create real-time graphical reports for everything: from coffee beans to plastics and powder.

Ask a BinMaster sales rep about integrating all bulk products on one easy-to-use platform, whether you use BinMaster sensors or not.

Binventory® has Hart: One Login. One Password. One Inventory Report.

According to Forbes, more than 54% of all manufacturers have instituted or launched a smart factory initiative. Smart factories call for asset tracking, intelligent RFID, and sensors to lower costs, provide advanced analytics, and make data cloud accessible.

The rate of implementation is happening at a dizzying rate, often leaving operations with a hodge-podge of log-ins, reports and tracking.

BinMaster sensors and software have been a mainstay for smart factories for decades—in fact, before the term smart factory was fashionable! We know—and helped build—the smart factory movement. First with eBob, and now with Binventory, that hodge-podge of data is pulled together into one easy-to-decipher inventory report.

3D Level Sensor for Multiple Containers in Food Processing

As the only sensor to measure and map the material surface, BinMaster’s 3DLevelScanner takes multiple level measurements to account for uneven surface topography in bins, tanks, and silos. Each sensor comes with 3DVision software that reports the lowest and highest points detected, plus a weighted average of all measurements in the bin.

This results in highly accurate volume calculations and better inventory visibility, ensuring bulk materials are accounted for and can be ordered proactively.

Detect Tiniest Trickles for FSMA Compliance

The flow of powders and small granules through a system can be difficult to detect. From adhesion and cohesion of the material, particle size, roughness, and other aspects of the material, operators are left wondering if the material is, indeed, flowing.

Bulk solids are prevalent in every industry—from cement to feed manufacturing and many in between. Both must closely watch the formulation of ingredients as they are conveyed from multiple bins and silos. Flow or no-flow indicators can help make the process simpler and more accessible.
