SmartBob AO

SmartBob® AO is a cable-based level measurement system designed to automate manual tape measurements while providing continuous analog output for integration with PLCs, control systems, and plant automation networks. Engineered for bins, silos, and tanks, SmartBob AO delivers accurate, on-demand level readings in vessels up to 150 feet tall—without the need for climbing.

A generic name for a SmartBob is a weight-and-cable level sensor, bin bob, plumb bob or yo-yo sensor. It is also commonly referred to as an automated tape measure for inventory tracking. 

With its built-in 4–20 mA output, SmartBob AO bridges the gap between discrete measurement and continuous monitoring. It can operate as a standalone level sensor or integrate with BinMaster inventory software, including BinCloud® and Binventory®, to provide real-time inventory visibility on a phone, tablet, or PC.

Reliable Level Measurement for Challenging Materials

SmartBob AO uses a weighted cable that lowers to the material surface and returns precise distance measurements, then converts that data into a continuous 4–20 mA signal. This makes it ideal for processes where automation systems require consistent analog feedback.
